I did the calculation to know what day of the week I born, and normally it takes about 3 seconds to give me the result.

Needs copying/pasting capabilities for numbers to/from other documents. As well, needs more friendly number-entry system... I know the old physical 12c had a horrible entry system, where if an incorrect digit was input, the CLx would wipe out the whole input, not just the digit... but hey, this isnt 1982 or the real calculator... this needs a better delete/clear system.
Excellent all purpose financial calculator. From FV to IRR, it does it all.
I always have either my MacBook Pro, my iPad mini, or my iPhone with me so that when I need to use my calculator, I can use it when I don’t have my calculator with me. It works seamlessly. And it allows to maintain the efficient keystroke workflow of RPN. Getting This App Was A No Brainer!!!
Theyve improved this app since the original release. I can report that the app does retain everything in memory....even after youve exited the app completely. So, theyre improving this app, but still (in my opinion) need to do much more to justify the apps price. As per my earlier review, if/when the app improves to justify a 4 (or dare I say it.....a 5 star rating), Ill update my review once again. jupiter7seven (aka, Tim)
This app is extremely slow. I have the HP 12c app for the iPhone and it is terrific. When you amortize a 30 year loan on this app it takes many seconds while it blinks "running" for the duration of the computation. I have a regular HP 12c and the speed is about the same as this app. However, the iPhone app is lightening fast. When you hit "amort" on that app for a 30 year loan the answer appears instantly. iPhone app = worth the cost. This app, not worth the cost. Very disappointed.
In the short time Ive used it I havent had any calculation errors. However the interface is poorly designed to work on a computer! The keys are far to large and widely spaced for rapid input, and as far as I can tell their is no keyboard shortcuts or a way to input them to make it more efficient, nor is their any help whatsoever despite a button and a drop down list that make it seem that there is. Final Analysis: This application has a lot of potential but is definitely not worth the price until the interface has been redesigned for EFFICIENT use on the platform! Until then dont buy. Note to Seller: I hope that with future updates I can improve my rating and review.
The app would be fine if I could turn off the ANNOYING clicking sound. The only way to stop the clicking is by turning my iPhone volume off or down. But then, I sometimes forget to turn my volume back up for my phone. WHY CAN"T WE TURN OFF THE VOLUME IN THE APP ITSELF?????
I have used HP calculators for nearly forty years and feel absolutely helpless without one or two. This ap does a marvelous job of reproducing the 12C with all its capabilities intact. One for my iPhone, one for my Mac Pro, one for my Mac. Now if only the version on my Macs would incorporate extra functions, including conversions, Id replace several handbooks and a few other aps. Great job!
I bought an HP 34 in 1975 and have loved the machine ever since. So I dont like the display font - yes, it clearer than the original, and I guess most people will like it better than the old computer font. I also am annoyed by the bird in the title. One cant use the old "HP" and "34 stacked in a box, but some have simply put "fin" and "34 in the same box. Warms my heart. Sorry. I also find the spacing of the keys to be to far apart vertically. It is actually easier to have a slightly smaller screen and not have to move so far between keys. The version (by another firm) that I have on my iphone is easier to use even with the bad mouse (!) and the much smaller calculator image. Its functions are great, and it lets me use the Łukasiewicz notation! (he invented Reverse Polish Notation.) In English, it works like an HP34 and those of us who love it, love it. The author seems to be working to fix any bugs, which is great. Its a bit pricey.
Those who have used the HP 12C will see that this is the real deal. Its a 12C for your iPad or iPhone. It works flawlessly and just like the real thing. I highly recommend it.
I no longer have to pack my HP 12C calculator in my mobile office as I have this app on my Mac, my iPhone, and my iPad. Way to go HP! You made my life simpler, and lighter!
I originally used the 12-C in 1984 as a new CFP. Then it was a rare tool and I used to dazzle bankers by being able to calculate mortgage payments faster than they could. The realy amazing feature then was the ability to calculate the tax deductible interest for any given year of a mortgage just as fast. Now I have it in my Apple Dock mostly out of nostalgia. It is still my calculator of choice almost 30 years later at the ripe old age of 73.
Ive been using the "hardware" HP12C for almost 30 years, and this is the software to buy. If you are accustomed to the HP12C, you will love this. Go no further, pick up this application.
Works as advertised!
This App is so convenient and useful. Allows alternating between my Mac and my 12C. Great on my iPhone!!!
It says that in version 2.3 they have added funtionality to ad copy to clipboard, but I am running Mauntain Lion and it doesnt work -- I wish this fiture existed as, it would make my live a lot easier
Ive used a 12C since its introduction on the general Market. This savees me from digging into my drawer when I need to do simple calculations. I began on an HP with RPN and never really learned (or liked) to use calculators with the algebraic notation. I used this app to double check my income tax return. For more complex calculations (I do a lot of Internal Rate of Return stuff) I still use my hand-held 12C - - - - but this app really comes in handy for the simpler calculations. You cant turn it off and expect too see your last entry when turning it on again. GrayEagle 45
I have grown up with the HP 12 C and have used one for 25-30 years. This app works just like the real one and should be included in every computer as a standard app.
its like the real thing.
